Tolland Obituary: Ann Paquin, 94

Condolences to her family and friends.

Ann Marie “Mary” (Paradiso) Paquin, 94, of Tolland, formerly of South Windsor and Enfield died peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Woodlake at Tolland, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 12, 1921 in Salandra, Italy, daughter of the late Joseph and Rachele (Puzzutiello) Paradiso. Mary came to the U.S. with her family at five years of age and settled in Stafford Springs. Mary lived in Enfield for many years before moving to South Windsor in 1985. She worked as a legal secretary for her brother, Attorney F. Joseph Paradiso. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed writing long weekly letters to her family. She was proud of her Italian heritage and cherished the family get togethers. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club, Compassionate Friends and the Legal Secretaries Club. Mary was a kind, caring and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Her family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Woodlake at Tolland for their kind and compassionate care and friendship.

She leaves her daughters, Rachele Lorenson and her husband Robert of Ellington, formerly of South Windsor with whom she made her home and Marylee Gordon and her husband Robert of New York, NY; her brother, Attorney F. Joseph Paradiso and his wife Donna of Stafford Springs; her grandchildren, Robert J. Lorenson Jr. and his wife Kacey of Southborough, MA and Christopher M. Lorenson and his wife Melissa of Manchester; her great grandchildren, Anthony, Julia, Adalynne and Isabella Lorenson; and her brother-in-law, Wilfred Zahner of Ellington. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Paquin, her son, Joseph Edward Paquin and her sisters, Angela Beatrice Grace and Frances Josephine Oliveri and Rachele Antoinette Zahner.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, 11:30 a.m., at St. Margaret March Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will follow at St. Edwards Cemetery in Stafford. There are no calling hours.
