Tolland Obituary: Harry Risedorf, 96

Condolences to his family and friends.

Harry Risedorf, 96, of Ellington and formerly of Winsted, longtime companion of 39 years to Lillian Luginbuhl, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Woodlake at Tolland.

Born in Ilion, NY, the son of the late Harry and Grace (Elmore) Risedorf, he grew up and lived in New York and Winsted before moving to Ellington over 39 years ago. He was a graduate of Duke University, Class of 1941. Harry retired from Avis in 2006 after 25 years. He is known by many as a great trumpet player and he played in several Dixie Bands over the years with the most recent being the Camelot Cruise Ship in Haddam.

Harry is also survived by his daughter, Diane Brunner and her husband Ron; his two sons, Alan Risedorf and his wife Doreen, and Bruce Risedorf and his wife Denise; three step-sons, Brad Fox, Steve Fox and his wife Jill, and Jeff Fox and his wife Deborah; a step-daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Moritz and her husband John, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harry also leaves Lillian's children, Chris Luginbuhl, Nancy Lockwood, Janice Groot and her husband Arno, Bruce Luginbuhl and his wife Karen, and Barry Luginbuhl and his wife Glenna, and several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss him very much. Harry was also predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and George McCannon.

His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 12 – 3 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon followed by a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
