Tolland Obituary: John Brow, 56

Condolences to his family and friends.

John “Jay” Brow, 56, of Ellington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home while surrounded by family and friends.

He was the loving husband of Leanne (Spears) Brow. They shared ten years of partnership together.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of Elizabeth (Petersen) Brow and the late John “Jack” Brow. He grew up in Vernon, before raising his own children in Tolland, and finally moving to Ellington nine years ago. He was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1977.

Jay was a career commercial truck driver. He was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church in Rockville. He was also a member of multiple social clubs in the area. Jay loved camping at Roaring Brook Campground in Stafford Springs, a second home and extended family during the summer months. He enjoyed taking his Harley Davidson motorcycle “Big Blue” for relaxing rides down winding back roads. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He will be remembered for his mountainous stature, even larger heart, and infectious ability to have a good time.

In addition to his wife and mother, Jay is survived by his beloved children, Jesse Lee Hildebrand of Tolland, John Jacob Brow of San Diego, CA, Nickolas Dalton of Orlando, FL, and Carly Elizabeth Brow of Vernon; his grandchildren, Lyla Sylvestri and Jayden “Scooter” Solis; a brother, Gary Brow and his wife Sharon of Vernon; a sister, Cheryl McDonald and her husband Dennis of Tolland, in addition to many scores of close friends. Jay was also predeceased by his sister, Cindy Brow.

His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Rockville.
