Tolland Obituary: Mary Rizy, 94

Mary M. (Maichuk) Rizy, 94, of Tolland, beloved wife of the late Frank Rizy, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 3, 2015.

Mary was born in Willington on July 24, 1921, daughter of the late Nikolay and Mary (Mroz) Maichuk. She had many passions in life including family, gardening, bowling, arts and crafts, and bingo. Mary was the past president of the Maple Grove Womens club. She loved to travel including occasional trips to the casino. A kind, caring, and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all.

Mary leaves her daughters, Maryann Peckham and husband Jack of Florida, Janice Reudgen of Tolland, and Frances Rizy of Coventry and 4 grandchildren Carey, Jason, William, and Tyler and 6 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister, Dorothy Wilhelm of Tolland, and joins her late siblings Helen Mateya, Sofie Gottier, Viola Richard, George Maichuk, Thedore Zaushny, and Anna Delodge.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4-7 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon.
