
Nancy H. Garabedian, 82, of Tolland, beloved wife of 48 years to Garabed “Charles” Garabedian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Constantine, Michigan, the daughter of the late Herman and Viola Bower, she grew up and lived in Michigan before moving to Connecticut in 1967. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University, received her master’s degree from Michigan State University and a certificate in advanced graduate studies from the University of Connecticut. She also did further graduate work at Smith College in North Hampton, Massachusetts. Nancy was director of speech, hearing and language and was the supervisor of special education for the Vernon Public Schools. She was a member and past officer of the Connecticut Speech, Hearing and Language Association and the American Speech and Hearing Association. She was also an adjunct faculty member at Syracuse University. Nancy enjoyed traveling to Europe and cruising the Caribbean. She loved South Beach on Martha’s Vineyard and tending to her flower gardens.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Cheesebrew of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister-in-law, Roxy Garabedian of New Britain, and several nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
