Tolland Obituary: Paul Grakowsky, 66

Paul Michael Grakowsky, 66, passed away on November 14th, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Hartford and grew up in Poquonock, Hartford, and East Hartford. He is an Army veteran and worked for Dictaphone while attending Hartford State Technical College. He earned his Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology. He then began his career at Gerber Scientific, and later, Gerber Technology in Tolland, as a manufacturing engineer.

Paul and his wife Carin, of 37 years, resided in Stafford Springs where they raised their family. He enjoyed bowling and golf on the Gerber leagues and also loved working in his yard and garden. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 81 through all the years his son was in scouting. His spirit will remain an example of how to live our lives.

He is survived by his wife Carin, daughter Melissa and her husband Matthew Shippee of Mansfield, and son Justin and his wife Alyssia Grakowsky of Stafford Springs, and three grandchildren Jack and Adelia Shippee and Logan Grakowsky. He is predeceased by his father Bronislaus Grakowsky, his mother Lillian Grakowsky, and his brother John Grakowsky. He is survived by a brother Stan Grakowsky and two sisters, Rita Grakowsky of East Hartford, and Anita and her husband Stephen Salvatore of Windsor.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Somers Funeral Home on Friday, November 20, 2015 between 5:30pm and 7:00pm. All are welcome to join us at the Knights of Columbus afterwards.
