Tolland Obituary: Susan Prusaczyk, 79

Condolences to her family and friends.

Susan B. Prusaczyk, of South Windsor, was called by the Lord on January 28.

Susan was born on May 6, 1936, in Worcester, MA, to the late Henry and Susan (Corsac) Butkiewicz. She graduated from Commerce High School, received her Bachelor of Arts from Regis College, Weston, MA, in 1957, and her Master’s Degree from Worcester State College in 1959. She taught at David Prouty High in Spencer, MA where she met fellow teacher and husband, the late Bernard D. Prusaczyk, a College of the Holy Cross grad. Married in 1959, she moved to South Windsor and taught at East Hartford High before starting a family.

Always placing family first, Susan was inspiring in juggling work and motherhood. Later, Susan substitute taught in the South Windsor school system, and also taught in the Adult Education Program for many years. She later worked as an accountant at Intertrade Scientific in Tolland, where she made dear friends. Susan was an early member of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. She later joined Avery Street Christian Reformed Church in South Windsor, where many there became her second family.

Susan was a beautiful daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother who deeply loved God, her children, and her beautiful grandchildren with a generous and loving spirit. She had a distinct sense of humor and compassion for others.

Susan is survived by her son Bernard D., Jr., daughter-in-law Blair Prusaczyk, grandsons Christian and Cameron of Westford, MA; her daughter, Susan and husband Alexander Prout, granddaughters Luisa, Francesca, and Christianna all of Naples, FL; sister Carol LaCanfora and husband Peter of Naples, FL; sister Judith Kupa of Newburyport, MA; sister-in-law Dorothy Wait of Studio City, CA. Susan was predeceased by her brother Henry J. Butkiewicz, Jr. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She had many close friends, especially “her surrogate daughter” and special friends Lori and Brad Sylvester of South Windsor, Carol Baker, of Tolland, “the Micheles”, Doris Mantz, as well as many others who loved and cared for Susan. During the last year, she had an earthly angel in her aide Agnes.

A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Friday, February 5, at 11:00 am at Avery Street Christian Reformed Church, 661 Avery Street, South Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Avery Street Church’s Benevolent Fund.
