William Clarence Waite (Bill), 83, died at Rockville Hospital on March 9, 2016. He was born in Rutland, Vermont to Ernest and Alta Waite. He worked at Pratt &amp; Whitney and retired after 30 years. An Army veteran he served honorably in Korea earning several decorations including the Korea Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. As an avid hunter and fisherman he was also a founding member of the Black Knight Archers of Tolland. Competing in the Bowhunter Division he was well known in the archery community, winning numerous state and New England Championships. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Grous. He is survived by his sons William Waite of San Diego, Clifton Waite of Willington, daughters Elizabeth Major and husband Joe of Coventry, and Jennifer Shade of Enfield, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was a resident of Winding River Village for many years. The family would like to acknowledge his many friends and his special friend, Claire, who helped him out. A special thanks is warranted to his caretaker Betsy. All services are private at the convenience of the family. Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, Tolland is assisting the family with arrangements.
