Tolland Officials Hope to Preserve Historic Documents

A state library grant could assist them with the project.

TOLLAND, CT β€” The town is hoping a state grant can help it save some 18th-century documents.

The town council recently authorized Town Manager Steve Werbner to apply for a historic document preservation grant through the State Library Association to fund the work.

The grant would be for the 2016/2017 fiscal year.

Town officials said some "meeting books" from the 1700s, "need a lot of attention, because they are falling apart." Town officials said they have identified a company in Vermont that contracts with the State Library Association to do that type of preservation work.

Several old maps also need to be restored, town officials said.
