TOLLAND, CT — Tolland officials on Wednesday provided an update on the Old Cathole Road reconstruction project, which had been put off until the spring.

The plan is to start the project in early April beginning at Route 74 with the drainage portion being the primary focus, officials said.

The goal, town officials said, is to have the section of Old Cathole from Tolland Stage Road to the north side of the Interstate-84 overpass "substantially completed" before continuing past Tolland High School.

In August, a skimcoat over the existing surface was put down in time for the Sept. 3 start of the school year from Route 74 up to a spot 1,000 feet beyond the Tolland High School driveway.

Town officials termed it a temporary measure, "to hold the road together until springtime."
