Tolland Patch Letter: Touting Results, Not Hashtags

TOLLAND, CT — To The Editor:

Results, not hashtags ...

We have all seen those late night infomercials trying to convince you to buy unneeded items of questionable quality with catchy gimmicks, continuously telling you "but wait, there's more" and promising you "it’s worth it."

Rarely, if ever, do those promises pan out. People who are serious about their decisions aren’t swayed by gimmicks – they do their research, looking for the items that have proven reliability and results for the best return on their investments. The same can be said for political candidates.

Two years ago, the voters of Tolland saw the value of the Republican slate, electing a Republican majority across every board, giving us a clear mandate to lead.

In doing their research, voters can see the proven results and reliable leadership of the Republican-led boards over the past two years:

Town Council – implemented a zero mil rate increase on property taxes at a time families struggling with COVID needed it the most, while ensuring full funding for firehouse restoration and the largest education budget approved in over 6 years, assuring our families are safe and our schools are funded.
Board of Education – lobbied for and obtained a COVID contingency fund, while working with school administration to ensure our students resumed classes safely while providing the highest level of education possible.
Planning and Zoning – worked to institute updated, logical, reasonable zoning regulations, attracting new business and housing development while working to protect Tolland’s ability for self-rule and oppose failed policies being imposed by Hartford.

Zoning Board of Appeals – worked arduously to reduce setbacks on non-conforming properties, eliminating fees and a need for a hearing.

All Republican majority boards - working in unison to provide the best for Tolland. This is just a small example of the outstanding achievements of the Republican slate. We look to continue to provide Tolland residents the highest quality of governance possible through reliable leadership and proven results, not #hashtags.
