Tolland Red and White Consignment Shop Opening

Generations of Tolland children will likely remember the building.

The new Tolland Red & White store, which is about to open at 46 Tolland Green, is seeking homemade toys, pet treats and pet wear and other items to sell on consignment.
The store, which will sell penny candy and evoke an authentic 19th-century general store, is being opened by Celeste Senechal, Mary-Pat Soucy and Sheri Sullivan.
The Red & White, housed in a building that dates to circa 1820 on the historic green, will also have a toy section and is seeking time-honored homemade toys such as chess sets and tic tac toe. It will have a baby section and a section called, β€œHead, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.” This section will have hats, scarves, purses, pajama bottoms, socks and jewelry.
Anyone who would like to sell locally raised or homemade items can call Celeste Senechal at 860-543-4687.
The store opened in 1923 as the Red & White. It was later run for more than 30 years as The Homestead by the late Judith Shaffer. Generations of Tolland children remember it fondly as the place where they could buy penny candy after school let out.
It will be open the last week of March just in time for Spring.
