Tolland Resident Gets Head Start On Fire With Spring Water Jug
A fire in Tolland could have been complicated without quick action, an officials said.

TOLLAND, CT — An alert neighbor on Old Post Road in Tolland grabbed a 5-gallon spring water dispenser jug to get a head start on a chicken coop fire Tuesday.
The fire not only threatened the chicken coop along the 300 Block of Old Post Road, but spread to some nearby brush, fire chief John Littell said.
It was breezy during the overnight period and the fire and could have easily begun to spread, Littell said. He credited the neighbor and a Tolland Fire Department crew with getting to it early.

"You never know with brush fires with a little wind," Littell said. "We could have been chasing it all night."
The fire never posed a threat after the actions, Littell said.
