Tolland's Newest Hair Salon

Tolland had a new hair salon open in early November, in the middle of the general chaos of the ten-day power outage, potentially creating some serious obstacles for the business.

However, Bridget Tanner, owner of Bridget & Co. Styling Studio located in Meeting House Commons, put the situation to good use.

"We were out of power at home, but we had it at the salon," she said. She and her fellow stylists were able to open up the new business, right on schedule.

Tanner had been working as a hair stylist for twelve years before she opened up the Bridget & Co. Styling Studio.

"It was the next step," she said.

The salon is a family-focused business that provides a variety of hair services. Tanner said that the studio also has a nail technician for those wanting shellac nails, gel nails, pedicures and more.

And while Tanner said business has been consistently busy, she wants to keep the salon small and close-knit.

"I've always worked in a small salon, six chairs or less," she said. "I've always liked that better than a huge salon. People like that there's a small family business."
