Tolland Schedules Free Metal, Bulky Waste Pickup for October

TOLLAND, CT — Tolland residents will be able to dispose of metal and bulky waste at no charge during the first full week of October, the town announced.

The town-sponsored pickup is scheduled for the week of Oct. 5. Reservations are required and must be made at least four business days before a resident's regular collection day.

Residents can schedule a pickup by calling 860-423-4527 or through Willimantic Waste’s website. Residents should select “Bulk Pickup” and then choose “Tolland Bulky Waste Collection.”

A complete list of acceptable items is available through the Town of Tolland’s trash and recycling information.

Residents are asked to place bulky waste items at the curb as close as possible to their scheduled pickup date.

The town also said curbside pickup of used motor oil has been eliminated because of environmental concerns. Some auto parts businesses, including Bill's Auto Parts, accept used motor oil for a small fee.
