Tolland, Somers Headed for Soccer Semifinals

Both schools have qualified for the Final Four in their respective classes.

Northern Connecticut will have two representatives in the state boys soccer semifinal found, as both Tolland and Somers won quarterfinal matchups Saturday.

Tolland, the number four seed, edged No. 12 Plainville 1-0 to earn its second straight trip to the Class M Final Four. The Eagles will take on top-seeded Lewis Mills on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at a neutral site to be determined.

Last year, Tolland made it to the Class M championship game before falling to Ellington, 1-0.

Meanwhile, in Class S, 2014 co-champion Somers continued its quest for a repeat title with an offensive explosion that left top-seeded Morgan on the short end of a 5-1 score.

The eighth-seeded Spartans will face No. 13 Litchfield in the semifinals Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Falcon Field in Meriden.
