Congratulations are due to Tolland’s talented student musicians who won spots in the Eastern Region Music Festival competitions. Local students at both the middle and high school levels auditioned for the chance to perform under a professional conductor with advanced musicians from many towns in the region.
Musicians at the high school level will perform at the Connecticut Music Education Association’s Eastern Region High School Music Festival at the University of Connecticut on January 10 and 11. The following chorus students will represent Tolland High School at the festival: Jillian Audette, Shaina Caplan, McKenna Connelly, Kaitlin Dilan, Cali Gadoury, Gabrielle Heilman, Gabrielle Hurlbut, Sierra Jesanis, Kaitlyn Leibowitz, Jenny Lindquist, Kristen Machuga, Kassandra Mitchell, Kayla Singleton, Amanda Steinhilber, Travis Tran, and Lexi Trice. The band will be represented by Jacob Gorsky and Bisi Oyelola. An opportunity to play in an orchestra was awarded to Alicia Chiang, Leonard Chiang, Ian Cook, Matt Vatteroni, and Genevieve Wolfe.

Tolland Middle School students were also part of the competition. Spots in the Eastern Region Middle School Music Festival Mixed Chorus were awarded to Bradly Sevilla, Ryan Winterberger, Alexandra Hietala, Madeline Bezzina, Annchi Li, Madison Ingrham, Emily Collins, Alyssa Oppelt, and Ivy-Lynne Fontaine. Performers in the festival Treble Choir will include Taylor Allen, Rachel Norris, Alaina Vermilya, Sarah Lateer, Jade Lamboy, Kara Mahoney, Jillian Parent, Rebecca Nowinski, Natalie Hurlbut, Peighton Stirt, and Emily Bliss. These vocalists will perform on March 8 at Rockville High School.
The Eastern Region Middle School Music Festival will also host TMS instrumentalists on March 9 at Rockville High School. Places in the band were awarded to Camryn Florence, James Gifford, Samantha Golden, Aaron Johnson, Jack Powell, and Christopher Raymond. TMS will be represented in the jazz band by Owen Adlerstein, Ben Free, and Robert Lotreck.
