Attention Tolland Water Systems Customers

Tolland's Water Systems are safe and do NOT have issues with radon!

It has been brought to the attention of your Water Commission that a business has sent a letter to customers of the Tolland’s Water Systems raising the concern that this business has found high levels of radon in “ … your neighborhood … “ and that there may be harmful levels of radon in the “… water in their homes …”.

Tolland’s Water Systems are public water supplies regulated by the State of Connecticut. As part of this, there are strict monitoring and testing requirements. Tolland samples water in accord with State requirements and testing is conducted by a State overseen laboratory. The water provided by the Tolland Water Systems meets and has met the State imposed requirements. If there were a problem, we would, in accord with the State’s rules and procedures, advise our customers.

We understand that some homes or other buildings could have private wells and owners may wish to consider examination. We understand that some homes or other buildings could have basements and owners may wish to consider examination. However, Tolland’s Water Systems are safe and do NOT have issues with radon.
