Tolland's Wayward Pete The Peacock 'Rescued' To New Home
The saga of Tolland's Pete The Peacock has flipped to a new chapter with the 'rescue' of the wayward bird.

TOLLAND, CT — The saga of Tolland's Pete The Peacock has flipped to a new chapter with the wayward bird, known for its colorful feathers, personality and elusiveness, landing in a sanctuary.
That was the word from Tolland officials in the latest town manager's report and on the Tolland Animal Control Division Facebook page.
"After four long years of living on the streets, befriending geese, chasing mailmen and cars and pooing all over the local homeowners' porch and roof, Pete the Peacock has been captured and is going to a new home where he will have his own Peahen friend," animal control officials quipped on social media.

According to the report, animal control officers had been receiving complaints from a "landowner" on Goose Lane about a peacock, "which had been hanging around her residence, roosting on her roof and porch and leaving a mess around her property."
The bird, known as "Pete," had eluded capture until animal control officers recently borrowed a large, kennel-style trap from nearby Brooklyn, CT, officials said.
