Town Of Tolland Hiring Per Diem Public Safety Officer
The town is looking for a part-time certified Firefighter/EMT or EMT Only.

The Town seeks applications for the position of part-time temporary per diem certified Firefighter/EMT or EMT Only. Starting salary for Firefighter/EMT is $22.00/hour with no benefits or $19.00/hour for an EMT with no benefits. Upon successful completion of initial training of Department Operations and Procedures, candidates would be called to supplement vacant career staff shifts due to vacations or illness on an as needed, per diem basis, sometimes with short notice. Shifts are normally weekdays between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.

The Firefighter/EMT position performs firefighting, emergency medical and rescue services, and equipment operation while responding to fire or emergency medical calls, accidents or community disasters, etc. Ability to perform skilled repair and preventive maintenance work in maintaining fire apparatus, equipment, fire stations and completes assigned administrative tasks.
Minimum requirements are generally H. S. diploma and training in firefighting (Firefighter I), equipment maintenance and two years’ experience as a firefighter or rescue operator with valid Class II Q Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Additionally must be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician with two years’ experience, Medical EMT and American Heart Association BLS Provider level CPR/AED certification. The ideal candidate would have two years’ experience in firefighting, rescue operations and as an Emergency Medical Technician, as well as possess: Valid Class II Q Motor Vehicle Driver’s License, current State of Connecticut Emergency Medical Technician or National EMT certification, American Heart Association BLS Provider level CPR/AED certification, certification from the State of Connecticut as a Firefighter I or equivalent from an accredited agency, Hazardous Materials-Operational Level certification and have completed NIMS 700, 100 and 200 courses.

The EMT Only position performs emergency medical services while responding to fire or emergency medical calls, accidents or community disasters, etc. and completes assigned administrative tasks.
Minimum requirements are generally H. S. diploma, valid certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. The ideal candidate would have two years’ experience as an Emergency Medical Technician in an emergency response setting, as well as possess: Current State of Connecticut or National EMT, American Heart Association BLS Provider level CPR/AED certification, valid Driver’s License and have completed NIMS 700, 100 and 200 courses.
