Town Traditions: Tolland's Farmers Market

A longtime tradition in Tolland is the local farmers market.

TOLLAND, CT — One of the great traditions in Tolland is the farmers market that runs from May through Thanksgiving.

It takes place every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Country Butcher in Tolland.

The market features locally grown goods for sale. Here are some examples on tap for this coming Saturday — June 10:

  • Sweet Key Bake Shop (Tolland) will feature homemade cookies.
  • KD Crop Farm (Chaplin) will feature a line of jams, jellies, and relish. Varieties include Cranberry Habanero jelly AKA Cranbanero, low sugar blueberry jam, flower petal jellies, beet relish and corn relish ... Chicken eggs and duck eggs will be for sale too with starter plants, radishes, and herbs.
  • Raw milk cheeses will be available from from Cato Corner Farm like Aged Bloomsday(super sharp), Bloomsday(sharp), Womanchego (like manchego), Vivace Bambino (Italian provolone/gruyere), Dutch (gouda), Black Ledge Blue, and Hooligan (washed rind stinky cheese).
  • Willow Valley Farm (Willington) will have available salad turnips, spring peas, lettuce, scallions, radishes, shiitake mushrooms, rye flour, and eggs.
  • Tobacco Road Farm (Lebanon) will feature radishes, arugula, spinach, mixed salad greens, kale and collards, rhubarb, and lots of dahlia tubers.
  • Local maple syrup and honey from Varga Farm (Mansfield) will be featured.
