I-84 In Tolland Closed Due To Tractor Trailer Crash
Area police and fire personnel swarm section of highway for morning accident
TOLLAND — Interstate 84 in Tolland this morning was closed as area police and fire personnel responded to a tractor trailer accident on the highway.
According to the state Department of Transportation, I-84 east was closed between exits 67 and 68 because of the accident, according to post online at about 6:30 a.m. today.
Earlier this morning, but Fox 61 issued a Twitter post indicating a "major police and fire response with traffic at a crawl."

Posted video footage by Fox 61 prior to the highway closure showed traffic moving slowly and a tractor trailer stopped on the right side of the road and emergency vehicles on the left-hand side of the highway.
In nearby Vernon, sirens were heard and emergency vehicles were accessing I-84 at Exit 67 just prior to about 6 a.m. this morning.

That part of I-84 in Tolland is often referred to as the "Tolland Triangle," a hilly section of the interstate that often results in a potentially dangerous mix of slow-moving, heavy vehicles traveling uphill and faster-moving, smaller vehicles.
The area, especially in the wintertime, is prone to accidents.
