Troop C To Be Out In Force On Memorial Day Weekend
State police from the Troop C barracks are slated to be out in force over the Memorial Day weekend.

TOLLAND, CT —State police from the Troop C barracks are slated to be out in force over the Memorial Day weekend with patrols looking for drunken drivers.
The enforcement will take place via roving patrols with extra troopers, state police said.

- May 25 at 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on May 26
- May 26 at 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on May 27
During the 2018 Memorial Day Weekend, state police arrested 38 drunken drivers, charged
909 motorists with speeding, cited 396 drivers for seat belt violations and dealt with 2,708 hazardous moving violations (including unsafe lane change, following too closely, cellphone use, etc.).
Troopers investigated 313 motor vehicle accidents, 62 of those with injury, and one fatality.

In addition to drunken driving, troopers this year will concentrate enforcement on all hazardous moving violations, seatbelt use and illegal cell phone use.
