The message was sent for Rural Road Safety Awareness Week, which runs until the weekend.

State police said speeding deaths on rural roads account for more than 40 percent of all speed-related traffic fatalities in the U.S., citing the National Center for Rural Road Safety.

"It may be tempting to speed on Connecticut's quiet, rural roads, but please, follow posted speed limits this week and every week," state police said.
