Truck Bursts Into Flames On Highway In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — The rear end of a tractor-trailer burst into flames Thursday night on a stretch of Interstate-84, Tolland Fire Department officials said. It was one of two nearly simultaneous incidents on the same stretch of highway.

The incident took place at about 8 p.m. on I-84 eastbound, between Exits 67 and 68, fire officials said.

An hour later, the right two lanes were still closed as firefighters worked at the scene.

Meanwhile, at about 9:40 p.m., firefighters had to contend with a two-car crash on I-84. Early indications were it was a hit-and-run, fire officials said.

A crew from the Vernon Fire Department was on-call in Tolland while local crews were on the highway.
