Trucker Charged After 92 MPH Jaunt On I-84: Report

A trucker was charged after he was clocked at 92 mph along a stretch of I-84, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — A trucker was charged with reckless driving and a left-hand lane violation after he was clocked at 92 mph along a stretch of Interstate-84 over the weekend, state police said.

The incident took place at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday. According to a report, a trooper was positioned on the eastbound side of the highway, just west of Exit 69. A tractor-trailer in the left-hand lane went speeding by the trooper and was eventually clocked at 92, according to a report.

The truck weighed an estimated 72,000 pounds, state police said. Trucks that size are prohibited from the left lane.

The driver, identified as Jois Gomez-Soca, 43, of West New York, NJ, did not pull over at first, but eventually came to a stop just east of Exit 70, state police said.
