Vernon Man Found Walking On Highway In Tolland Facing Drug Charges

TOLLAND CT — A Vernon man found walking on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Tolland is facing drug charges, state police said.

The incident took place at 7:52 a.m. near an Exit 69 on-ramp, according to an arrest report.

State police said they encountered the man near a vehicle with no plates. He claimed he was walking to a vehicle left for him by a cousin, according to an arrest report.

The man, identified as 49-year-old Mahata Spence, was charged with possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession. of a controlled substance, being a negligent pedestrian and interfering with police.

He posted a $25,000 bond and is due on court on Oct 23, according to judicial system records.
