Wire Cuts Through Box Truck In Tolland Crash

A wire cut its way through a box truck during a crash in Tolland, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — The driver of a box truck that hit the guide wire for a utility pole in Tolland escaped injury, an accident report shows.

The crash took place at 4:20 p.m. on Tolland Stage Road near the Interstate-84 interchange, according to a report. The truck, owned by Stoughton, MA-based Diesel Direct Inc., was headed east, state police said.

The cable missed the cab of the truck, but cut through the cargo area, causing disabling damage, according to an accident report.

The truck was towed from the scene by a heavy-duty wrecker, state police said. There was heavy, wet snow on the road at the time of the crash, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.
