Workers Jumped To Aid Fall Victim At Tolland Construction Site

TOLLAND, CT — Quick-thinking workers at a school construction site jumped to the aid of a colleague after an accident in Tolland on Wednesday, the fire chief said.

Tolland Fire Chief and Emergency Management Directror John Littell gave an update on the accident Thursday. The call at Birch Grove Primary School came in at about 3:30 p.m. The school is undergoing an extensive rebuild after a crumbling foundation was discovered.

A worker at the site had what Littell described as a "ground level fall." Littell said he was first at the scene and workers assisted him with the victim before an emergency crew could arrive.

Littell described the site as "clean" which allowed easy ambulance access.

He said the worker was taken the the trauma center at Hartford Hospial via Life Star helicopeter in "serious" condition.

Life Star landed at the adjacent Cross Farms Recreation Complex, fire officials said.

The accident remains under investgation.
