Schools from Tolland and Hartford counties accounted for 32 team state championships and 25 runnerup finishes during the year.

The final day of 2016 is upon us, and as we turn the calendar to a new year, we take a look back at state tournament results for area high school teams over the past 365 days.
Schools from Hartford and Tolland counties fared quite well in state competition, with 24 schools from the region amassing 32 state titles and 25 runnerup finishes.
Bloomfield captured five team state titles during the year, while Windsor made the most championship appearances among teams from the region with eight.

(Note: only team results are counted; individual titles in sports such as track and field, golf, swimming, tennis and cross country are not listed here. The girls ice hockey tournament is not sanctioned by the CIAC, and is also not included).
