8 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized In Rt. 8 Trumbull Traffic Stop: PD

The arrest was made after a vehicle nearly hit a police cruiser, according to police.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Naugatuck man was arrested by State Police after they found more than eight pounds of marijuana in his vehicle after a traffic stop on Route 8 in Trumbull Jan. 29, police said.

A Volkswagen Passat was pulled over after it nearly struck a stationary police cruiser. Passenger Jonathan Ven, 21, claimed to have a small amount of marijuana. During a search police found the additional eight pounds.

Ven claimed sole ownership of the marijuana and said he had it mailed to him so he could sell it. He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell more than one kilogram of marijuana and possession of more than four ounces of marijuana.
