A Patriotic Day at the Trumbull Senior Center - Joanna M. Leone

There were splashes of red, white and blue at the Trumbull Senior Center during their patriotic picnic which was held on July 11th. The delicious picnic food and music were  enjoyable. The red white and blue "USA" centerpieces were made by donor and supporter, Joanna Leone and her mom, Antonetta Leone.

Executive Director, Jeanie Fereira, her Assistant Sharon Miller, Rachel Yahwak and all the members  of the Senior Citizen Commission always work hard and are so dedicated to creating a warm atmosphere of togetherness. It was not just the sunshine that created the warmth that day, but the caring hearts of everyone who worked to make the event special for the seniors from Trumbull and all of the surrounding communities. There certainly is something new to discover at the Trumbull Senior Center.

The conversation and laughter filled the patio. Some seniors were talking about the next event and upcoming bingo, health fair, and a variety of classes. Many seniors shared a joke or caught up with their friends. The senior center was filled with so many energetic seniors. A group of of volunteer performers, "Smile A While" added a special touch to the celebration that day. The talented "Smile A While" group spreads cheer by singing or performing at the rehabilitation homes and for seniors who are not able to go out to see a show. Their kind and unselfish acts lifts the spirits of many.

If you want to know more about the Senior Center, would like to volunteer or join the center, please call Jeanie Fereira or Sharon Miller at 203 452 5199.   There certainly is something for everyone at the Senior Center. Such a variety of activities, classes and gatherings.
