Trumbull To Host Mental Health Awareness Month Event

TRUMBULL, CT — The town will host a free event on May 19 in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

According to the town website, the Mary J. Sherlach Center and the Students Leaving a Mark (SLAM) group will hold "an exciting and uplifting community event aimed at promoting mental well-being and building stronger family connections."

The free event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Old Mine Park, located at 121 Old Mine Road, and is open to Trumbull residents.

According to the town, the event is designed to highlight the importance of mental health while offering a fun and engaging environment for families and individuals of all ages.

By emphasizing the power of play and community engagement, the Counseling Center and SLAM group hopes to provide a space where people can connect, de-stress and celebrate mental wellness together, according to the town.

Attendees will be treated to a variety of free activities during the event, including a live DJ and games and prizes, as well as free ice cream, popcorn and cotton candy.

"The SLAM group believes that strengthening connections within families and communities is key to improving mental health and this event is all about having fun together and supporting one another while also bringing awareness to the importance of mental well-being," the town website reads.
