According to police, the investigation began after Bridgeport officers located a stolen vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting.

After the vehicle was located, officers pursued it onto Route 8 into Trumbull, where the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Booth Hill Road, police said.

Trumbull officers and assisting agencies immediately established a perimeter and utilized multiple resources, including K-9 units, a drone and an aircraft, to assist in locating the suspects, according to police.

Police said two suspects were arrested shortly after the search began and turned over to Bridgeport police.

The search continued into the evening as officers worked to ensure any additional people who may have fled the area were located, according to police.

"While this was an active incident, there is no information at this time indicating a continuing threat to the community," police wrote on Facebook. "Residents should continue their normal daily activities, remain aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately by contacting the Trumbull Police Department."

According to police, anyone in the Booth Hill Road, Columbine Road or surrounding neighborhoods who may have information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department.

"The Trumbull Police Department appreciates the cooperation and patience of our residents and would like to thank the officers from all assisting agencies who worked together to safely resolve this incident," police wrote.

In a news release Tuesday morning, Police Capt. Donald Allen said the shelter-in-place notification that was broadcast Monday evening has been lifted and residents can go about their business as usual.

Police had announced late Monday they were actively searching for four male suspects who were considered armed and dangerous.

Two suspects were apprehended around 9 p.m. Monday, according to police.

In an update around 10 p.m., police asked residents to stay away from the Nichols area of town.

"Residents in the Nichols area are urged to stay in their homes and lock their doors," police wrote Monday. "Residents are also reminded to secure their vehicles and remove keys and key fobs from inside the vehicle to prevent theft."

In a news release posted to Facebook Tuesday around 11:30 a.m., Bridgeport police said they received a ShotSpotter activation Monday at approximately 2:30 p.m. indicating eight rounds fired in the 450 block of Trumbull Avenue.

The Bridgeport Police Fusion Center reviewed available video footage and identified a vehicle with Connecticut registration as a vehicle involved in the incident, according to Bridgeport police.

Investigators confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of North Branford on June 23, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m., members of the Bridgeport Police Task Force and a Bridgeport Police K9 officer spotted the vehicle in the area of North Avenue and Lindley Street with multiple occupants inside, police said.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading police on a pursuit through Bridgeport and onto Route 8 before continuing into Trumbull, according to police.

The pursuit ended in the area of Booth Hill Road in Trumbull after the stolen vehicle became disabled and multiple occupants fled on foot, police said.

Bridgeport, Trumbull and state police, as well as additional assisting units, immediately established a perimeter and began a coordinated search of the area, police said.

During the search, officers located and arrested Giovanni Jesus Gonzalez, 19, of Bridgeport, after he was found trying to conceal himself inside a garage on Tanager Lane in Trumbull, according to police.

According to police, Kayano "Lotti" Gordon, 19, of Bridgeport, was later found by Trumbull officers after he was seen leaving the area on a bicycle.

Officers determined Gordon had entered a nearby property and taken the bicycle while trying to flee the area, according to police.

Gonzalez was charged with engaging police in pursuit, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree burglary and interfering with officers/resisting.

Gordon was charged with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, first-degree reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit and larceny of a motor vehicle, first offense.

"The Bridgeport Police Department extends its appreciation to the FBI, Connecticut State Police, Trumbull Police Department and Trumbull volunteer fire departments for their assistance and support during this incident," Bridgeport police said in a news release. "The coordinated response included multiple law enforcement resources, including K9 units, drones and aviation support."

Police noted the investigation remains active and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department.
