"You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable to ask for help," police wrote on Facebook. "Whether you need counseling, are concerned about a loved one or are unsure where to begin, support is available."

The following list of local resources and descriptions of each were provided by police:

Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center: Confidential individual, family, and group counseling; substance-use counseling; crisis and trauma intervention; and youth support. Services are available to Trumbull residents, town employees, and students attending Trumbull schools. Sliding-scale fees are available.

Trumbull Police Social Worker: Non-emergency support, post-incident follow-up, resource navigation, and connection to community services for Trumbull residents and families.

Trumbull Human Services: Assistance connecting residents with community programs, benefits, food, transportation, and other supportive services.

Police also provided the following crisis and urgent support information:

Call or text 988. Free, confidential support is available 24/7 for anyone experiencing emotional distress, a mental health crisis, or thoughts of suicide. You may also contact 988 if you are worried about someone.

Call 911 if someone is in immediate danger or experiencing a life-threatening emergency.

"Reaching out is a sign of strength," the department's post reads. "Please save and share these resources you never know who may need them today."

The department's full post is available here.
