Armed Motorcyclist Flees Scene of Trumbull Crash: PD

TRUMBULL, CT — Charges are pending against a Trumbull motorcyclist after he fled an accident scene, police said.

Police were called to a multi-vehicle accident scene on White Plains Road at Wesley Drive Feb. 24 around 7:37 a.m.

Reports were that a motorcyclist fled on foot and was armed with a handgun, police said. Nearby Christian Heritage School was placed in lockdown.

The male, identified as Joseph Mezzanotte, 24, of Trumbull was found on Twitchgrass Road and was taken into custody.

Mezzanotte was in possession of a handgun and has a valid pistol permit. He didn't display the weapon during the incident, police said.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
