Arrest Made In Trumbull Center Liquor Burglary

More than $1,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen and the store was damaged during the burglary, according to police.

TRUMBULL, CT — An Uncasville man was arrested after he stole more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes in a December 2019 burglary, according to police.

Officers went to Trumbull Center Liquor Dec. 23 after a burglar alarm was activated. They found that the front door was pried open and cartons of cigarettes were scattered on the ground. It was later determined that there was $454 worth of property damage done during the burglary, police said.

Trumbull detectives worked with other police departments after a string of similar incidents in other towns.

Carlos Ortiz, 30, was arrested on May 29 from Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center and was charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and two counts of criminal mischief. He was released on a $25,000 bond. Stratford Police also had an active arrest warrant for Ortiz.
