Attempted Trumbull Carjacking Investigated

Two suspects in the incident were caught in a separate Fairfield incident.

TRUMBULL, CT — Two teens were arrested following they attempted a carjacking in Trumbull and attempted robbery in Fairfield June 22.

The two teens tried to take the vehicle of a 69-year-old man at Twin Brooks Park off of White Plains Road. The victim reported that a young male came to his door, opened it and pointed a handgun at him, said Lt. Douglas Smith, Trumbull Police spokesman.

The man refused his demands and the robber eventually gave up.

About 20 minutes later Fairfield Police got a report of an attempted robbery on Easton Turnpike. A responded Fairfield officer located and stopped an older green Honda leaving the area with two males inside.

Driver Geraldo Coelho, 19, of Bridgeport and a 17-year-old Bridgeport juvenile were arrested after a BB gun was found in the car.

“After an investigation lead by Fairfield detectives, it was determined that both males were involved in the Trumbull robbery attempt as well,” Smith said. “Trumbull detectives investigated and verified that both suspects were also responsible for the Twin Brooks robbery attempt and they were obtaining arrest warrants for both.”
