Body Found By Hiker Identified: Trumbull Police

TRUMBULL, CT — A body that was found in a wooded around near the Pequonnock River Valley on Sunday has been identified as 29-year-old Matthew Robinson, of Trumbull, police said in an update Friday.

Police responded around 12:30 p.m. on May 7 to the wooded area near the end of Hardy Lane, where a hiker found the remains of a dead man. Various items belonging to Robinson were found nearby, but his identity could not be confirmed, according to police.

The person’s identity was confirmed by the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, but police said there were no signs of foul play, and it has been determined to be an isolated incident with no threats to the public.

The Trumbull Police Detective Division, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division, and the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection responded and coordinated efforts to investigate the incident, according to police.
