Update:Trumbull Burglary Suspect Identified
The armed suspect ran away from police and crossed the Merritt Parkway in an attempt to flee. The gun was found to be a fake.

Update: Police have identified the suspect as Geraldo Maldonado, 19, of Forest View Road in Bridgeport. He is being charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, interfering with an officer and first-degree criminal attempt at burglary. He was detained in lieu of $25,000 bail.

A resident on Sunnycrest Road reported seeing someone trying to break into her residence around 10:40 a.m., said Lt. Leonard Scinto, police spokesman.

Police quickly responded and the suspect began to run away. Police ran after him.
The suspect, identified as a Bridgeport juvenile was carrying a handgun, but dropped it during the chase. The weapon was a facsimile firearm.

He continued to run and crossed the Merritt Parkway. Bridgeport Police and K-9 units responded. The suspect was taken into custody on Forest View Road in Bridgeport, which is near where he resides.
Several schools in the area went into lockdown during the chase. The suspect faces multiple charges and police are working to determine if he is responsible for other burglaries.
