Behind the battles of the American Revolution was the often-overlooked work of women whose clothing, textiles, and household labor helped shape the Revolutionary cause. This illustrated program, presented by costumed historians from The Dirty Blue Shirts, explores the lives of New England women through reproduction garments, fabric samples, and images of surviving historical pieces.

From homespun mythology to red cloaks and calashes, discover how women supported the Revolution and what they wore as their world changed around them.

Perfect for history lovers, fashion enthusiasts, and anyone curious about everyday life during America’s founding era!

This event is part of Past, Present, and Pages, a program initiative developed by the Trumbull Library in celebration of America's 250. These programs explore history, literature, music, art, and community stories, highlighting the people, ideas, and events that connect the past to the present. Join us this summer as we explore our town, our country, and the stories that bring our community together.
