Chicken Coop Catches Fire In Trumbull: Long Hill FD

A structure fire reported in Trumbull was revealed to be a chicken coop that caught fire, according to Long Hill fire officials.

TRUMBULL, CT — Crews extinguished a blaze that broke out Wednesday afternoon in a chicken coop on Saxony Road, according to the Long Hill Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Inc.

In a news release, Long Hill fire officials said crews, along with mutual aid from the Trumbull Center and Nichols fire departments, were called to the area around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a structure fire.

When crews arrived, they found a 15x30 chicken coop approximately 50 percent on fire with no exposure concerns, officials said.

Firefighters used a 300-foot handline to quickly extinguished the fire, officials said.

No animals were injured as they were all able to safely escape into an outdoor pen before crews arrived, according to fire officials.
