Connecticut's Top 50 Delinquent Business Taxpayers List Revealed

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services has published its latest quarterly update of the top 50 delinquent business taxpayers in the state, which it says adds up to almost $11 million in taxes owed.

Connecticut General Statutes Section 12-7a requires the Commissioner of Revenue Services to prepare and maintain a list of delinquent state taxes unpaid for a period greater than 90 days after all appeal rights have expired.

That list, including the names, addresses, tax type and amount due (tax, interest and penalties), must be available to the public for inspection by any person. The complete list of these delinquent taxpayers is available for public inspection at the Department of Revenue Services (DRS), 25 Sigourney Street, Hartford.

DRS also makes available on its Internet site a list consisting of 50 of the Top Delinquent Business Taxpayer Accounts (Sales, Withholding and Corporation Business Tax Only).

This list is updated quarterly, but does not include taxpayers who are: actively working with the agency toward resolution (payment plan, providing needed documentation for adjustment); involved in criminal investigations; designated uncollectible; or under bankruptcy protection.

According to the most recent report, effective Oct. 1, 2015, Monaco’s Wine and Liquor LLC of Bridgeport owes $570,760.02 in sales and use taxes to top the list.
