CT Primary 2026: What Trumbull Voters Need To Know

TRUMBULL, CT — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 11, for Connecticut’s 2026 primary election, with races for governor and Congress among the contests on ballots across the state.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The biggest statewide contest is the Democratic primary for governor between incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont and state Rep. Josh Elliott of Hamden.

There is no Republican primary for governor. State Sen. Ryan Fazio is the Republican candidate for governor and will advance to the November general election.

Connecticut holds closed primaries, meaning voters generally must be registered with a political party to vote in that party’s primary.

Here’s what Trumbull voters need to know before heading to the polls:

Where To Vote In Trumbull

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

• District 1: Hillcrest Middle School, 530 Daniels Farm Road
• District 2: Booth Hill Elementary School, 545 Booth Hill Road
• District 3: Tashua Elementary School, 401 Stonehouse Road
• District 4: Madison Middle School, 4630 Madison Ave.
• District 5: Frenchtown Elementary School, 30 Frenchtown Road
• District 6: Middlebrook Elementary School, 220 Middlebrooks Ave.
• District 7: Christian Heritage School, 575 White Plains Road

District 1 voters should note that their primary polling place is different from the location that will be used for the November election. Hillcrest Middle School is being used for Tuesday's primary because of repaving, according to the town.

Voters who aren't sure of their district can check their assigned polling location through the Connecticut Secretary of the State's voter lookup.

Voters who are in line when polls close at 8 p.m. are allowed to cast a ballot.

What’s On The Ballot In Trumbull?

Trumbull voters have two major primary contests, depending on party affiliation.

Democratic voters will choose between incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont and state Rep. Josh Elliott of Hamden for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Republican voters will choose between Michael Goldstein and Daniel Miressi for the Republican nomination in Connecticut's 4th Congressional District.

The winner of the congressional primary will advance to the November general election to challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Himes.

What To Know Before Voting

Connecticut has closed primaries. Registered Democrats can vote in Democratic primaries, while registered Republicans can vote in Republican primaries being held in their district.

Voters should confirm their registration status and polling location through the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s voter lookup before heading to the polls.
