Distracted Drivers Being Targeted in Trumbull

The fine is $150 for the first offense and increases up to $500.

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull Police will kick off their distracted driving campaign April 4.

Police will be paying extra attention to enforcing distracting driving laws as part of the national "U Drive. U Text. U Pay." campaign.
April is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Nearly 3,500 people were killed and an estimated 391,000 injured in motor vehicle crashes during distracted driving events in 2015, according to the NHTSA.

Driver's found violating the law could be ticketed for $150 on the first offense, $300 for the second offense and $500 for the third and subsequent offenses.
