Distraction Burglars Target Trumbull Residence

Cash and jewelry were stolen.

A Trumbull residence was targeted by distraction burglars Monday afternoon.

A Booth Hill Road resident told police that a man came to the door and asked her to come outside to look at some tree work her neighbor was having done.

A second burglar entered the house and took cash and jewelry, police said.

The initial suspect is described as a short 20 to 30-year-old Hispanic male. He was wearing a hat with the letters “RA” on the front, police said.

He was communicating with another person on a two-way radio as he distracted the resident about tree work.

A white van was seen leaving the area after the burglary.

Police advise residents to be wary of anyone attempting to get them to exit their residence and contact police as soon as possible if they believe they are purposefully being distracted.
