Binky Patrol of Monroe/Trumbull’s latest project was to help students after the death of their classmate.
According to the organization, they put out a call for purple, gold and black blankets to donate to Jonathan Law High School, following the death of Maren Sanchez, who was stabbed at the school.
More than 200 blankets have been made, donated and collected. Binky Patrol said that is enough for the entire junior class at Jonathan Law. The blankets will be passed out during an advisory period in early June.

Monroe mom and Scarves for Sandy Hook founder, Jeanne Malgioglio started the Monroe/Trumbull chapter of this national organization in January. Volunteers are needed, and donations of yarn, fleece or gift cards to fabric stores are welcome.
The collected blankets, are given to critically ill and traumatized children. Blankets can range in size from 36 inch square through teen sized (50 x 60 inches) afghans. Blankets can be crocheted, knitted, sewn or quilted. Fleece tie blankets are quite cuddly and easy to make. Any washable yarn can be used.

Binky Patrol Monroe/Trumbull will be having a drop in at the Last Drop Coffee Shop on Rt. 25, in Monroe on Saturday, June 14, from 9 – 11 a.m. Residents are invited to meet organizers or drop off a blanket. Deliveries are scheduled that next week to Bridgeport Hospital, Griffin Hospital, as well as St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
