DUI Driver Fell Asleep At Wheel: Trumbull PD

TRUMBULL, CT — A Mount Vernon, NY man was arrested on DUI charges after he fell asleep behind the wheel while intoxicated, according to police.

Police were called to Main Street July 30 around 10:15 p.m. for a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway.

They found driver Spencer Simmons, 47, behind the wheel asleep. The car's engine wasn't on, but the keys were in the ignition, police said.

Simmons failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. His BAC results were .30 and .33, both more than three times the legal limit.
