Firefighters Rescue Heron Entangled In Fishing Line In Trumbull: Nichols FD

TRUMBULL, CT — Firefighters rescued a heron that became entangled in fishing line near Pinewood Lake in Trumbull over the weekend, according to the Nichols Fire Department.

In a Facebook post, Nichols officials said crews successfully rescued the black-crowned night heron Saturday afternoon near the Pinewood Lake Club Clubhouse.

According to the department, crews worked together to safely free the bird and return it unharmed.

"A special thank you to the Pinewood Lake Association lifeguards for their assistance and teamwork during the rescue," the department's post reads.
