Generator Scammer Arrested: Trumbull PD
The man was wanted in several Fairfield County towns for bilking customers out of thousands of dollars.

TRUMBULL, CT — A man who scammed a Trumbull resident out of $4,000 was arrested, according to police. John Mech, 56, was recently arrested by Stamford, Trumbull and Westport Police after he scammed several people throughout Fairfield County into thinking he would install home generators.
Mech was hired in August 2013 to install a generator. A woman called the customer to say Mech would deduct $500 from the bill if the victim wrote out a $4,000 check. The victim obliged, police said.
By November the work hadn't been done despite the victim trying to contact Mech several times, police said. An arrest warrant was drafted.
